Frequently Asked Questions

Why did DSSLI increase its tuition?
DSSLI has maintained its low tuition rates for over seven years, but the school’s expenses have recently increased dramatically now that we pay rent to Stony Brook University for our classroom space. The DSSLI Board remains committed to maintaining our low costs to operate the school.

How should I calculate my discounts? Can you give me an example?
Here are some examples:

  • One child, pay in advance:
$400 (full annual tuition) – $40 (administrative discount)
    = $360/year
  • Three children, quarterly payments:
    $400 (full child) +
$400 (additional child) – $100 (first additional child discount) +
$400 (additional child) – $150 (second additional child discount)
    = $400 + $300 + $250
    = $950, divided evenly in three payments ($316.67, $316.67, $316.66)
  • One adult, one child, pay in advance:
    $450 (full adult) – $40 (admin discount) +
$300 (one additional child) – $40 (admin discount)
    = $410 + $260
    = $670/year
